Arise Fellows – Cohort Two
Last year, Dreams Arise Ghana piloted a Youth Mentorship Programme in the community of Big-Ada. The Youth Mentorship Programme was designed to aid in achieving the core objective of the organisation; advancing education in rural communities.

To implement this programme, Dreams Arise Ghana, partnered with Foundation for Rural Female Education in Nigeria and Scribble Work Publishing House in Ghana. Both organisations share a common interest in child education and are actively working to promote educational initiatives in their respective countries.
What we did
Dreams Arise Ghana sponsored 20 students from five Junior High Schools in the Big-Ada community to participate in the mentorship programme. The students were taken through a series of educational and leadership training sessions led by a group of seasoned and passionate mentors.

Following the above, participants were trained to deliver a project on Plastic Waste Management. They prepared presentations which they delivered in four other basic schools to over 300 students in the Big Ada area. Least to say that these students benefited from the diverse learning experiences that the programme offered. Some of which included:
- Public Speaking: to be able to deliver their presentations, participants were taken through the art of public speaking.
- Leadership Skills: students learned varying topics on leadership from mentors
- Workshops and performances: students participated at our workshops and performed poems.
We observed that this programme would contribute in raising leaders as shown by participants during the project delivery stage or even in their personal lives.

The Second Cohort
We are excited to announce that preparations are underway for a second cohort of the Mentorship Programme. This cohort promises to be better and improved. We have incorporated all the lessons from our previous cohort and have tweaked this year’s to be an improvement on the first cohort. Here are a few notable changes;
- The programme will introduce sessions on financial and time management.
- The participants will be taken through a three-phase learning bootcamp.
- The participants will also be required to read three books during the programme.
- The participants will design a dream board which they will get to keep.
Our Goal
We anticipate making a significant impact on the lives of many young students within the Big-Ada community in this cohort and future ones. We eagerly await sharing the progress of this cohort with you, along with the substantial impact we aim to achieve.
